Italian design and ‘Made in Italy’ are still recognised hallmarks of style and quality for furniture and interior products, despite the ever-growing competition from many other countries. We are proud to have remained a trusted player in this competitive environment and throughout our 100 years of history.

Haron Shamash saw an opportunity to
export Italian fabrics from Milan’s design capital to international markets and founded UTEC. Over time, UTEC gained recognition for sourcing high-quality Italian textiles at excellent prices for clients across
the globe.

1950

Haron expanded UTEC’s reach after meeting the Middle East’s main furniture importer, leading him to export Italian furniture. He drew on UTEC’s vast design network to deliver Italian-made furniture to the region, establishing UTEC as a trusted name in premium Italian design exports.

1961

Haron’s son Simon joined UTEC, marking the start of a new era as expertise and industry knowledge began to pass from one generation to the next. This continuity established UTEC as a legacy business, maintaining the family’s strong ties to Italian craftsmanship and quality.

1974

These were pivotal years for UTEC as the company became the leading supplier of Italian design in the Middle East, experiencing substantial growth. UTEC’s reputation and reach solidified, reinforcing its standing as a top source for premium Italian furnishings in the region.

1987

UTEC entered the U.S. market with showrooms in Boston, Miami, Chicago, and Seattle, expanding Italian luxury design to a new audience. This strategic expansion marked a major step in UTEC’s growth, introducing American clients to Italy’s finest furniture and fittings.

1990

Within a few years of its U.S. entry, UTEC became a leader in Made-in-Italy furnishings, attracting prestigious clients like Sylvester Stallone and Carol Alt. This success further solidified UTEC’s position as a top provider of Italian luxury furniture across the American market.

2016

A century on, UTEC’s third generation continues the family tradition, offering trusted guidance to clients seeking top-quality Italian furniture, textiles, and luxury goods. This dedication to excellence sustains UTEC’s legacy, fulfilling a century-long commitment to Italian design.
